The Newport Beach Animal Shelter

The Newport Beach Animal Shelter

A new refuge for our furry friends

The City of Newport Beach has recently partnered with Home Free Animal Rescue & Sanctuary to provide boarding, care and feeding of animals collected by the Police Department’s Animal Control Division, which coordinates these services. Come and learn about when, where and how the Shelter operates--from domestic animals and how to adopt them to how local wild animals are being controlled.

Guest speakers are Newport Beach Police Officer and Animal Control Supervisor Valerie Schomburg, who has worked for 16 years toward Newport Beach having its own shelter, along with Animal Control Officer Jesse Castro—both sharing their passion for the well-being of the animals in their care.

Former Mayor Nancy Gardner will speak about the Friends of the Newport Beach Animal Shelter, offering information on how citizens can support the shelter, from donations of supplies and funds to volunteering at the shelter.

Questions and answers will follow the presentation.
