Come Meet Chief Chip Duncan
Newport Beach's new Fire Chief
Chief Duncan oversees protection of your life and property and prepares us for all manner of disasters. His department sends the paramedics to you with one of the shortest response times anywhere. Every day this means the difference between life and death for Newport Beach citizens. The lifeguards in his department patrol and protect swimmers along seven miles of beach. Chief Duncan also oversees the City's national award-winning Community Emergency Response Team (CERT program) and the seasonal Junior Lifeguard Program.
Chief Chip Duncan was appointed as Interim Fire Chief earlier this year and was recently promoted to Fire Chief. He started his career with the Newport Beach Fire Department in 1987 and has steadily climbed the Department’s ladder, having served in various capacities including firefighter, firefighter paramedic, fire captain, battalion chief, training battalion chief and assistant chief.
Come meet and greet Chief Duncan and ask questions!
