A Look at Newport’s Community College Resources!
Coastline Community College is an accredited institution that is one of 112 community colleges in California. Founded in 1976, Coastline opened its Newport Beach campus in 2013. It has always been known for serving students in non-traditional ways—working around their schedules and providing classes in convenient locations…and offering a variety of majors that can be completed completely online.
OCC on the water…. The renowned and popular School of Sailing and Seamanship, is one of the nation’s largest public boating education programs and offers offer courses in virtually all aspects of sailing, power boating, seamanship and navigation. Due to the need for additional parking, the school is working on a plan to build a pedestrian bridge across Coast Highway.

Speakers are Nathan Brais, Director of Student Life & Outreach at Coastline Community College, and Brad Avery is the Director of the School of Sailing and Seamanship, OCC. The Community Room is on the right (directly across from City Council Chambers) when you enter the complex on Civic Center Drive. Parking is available in the Parking Structure and in the parking lot adjacent to the structure.
